Precious Layette size 2

I had a request to make this design in a size 2 so I adjusted the pattern and changed needle sizes to get the proper dimensions for a size 2. I used Caron Simply Soft, size 9 needles for the hood, size 8 for the yoke, body and sleeves size 7 needles. I started another one and making more changes to the pattern stitches, this next one is for a boy so I am using seed stitch.
I am still working on those unfinished WIP in my basket, I'll post them as I get them done. One needs a sleeve and buttons, another needs a lot of knitting! And a few need seaming, which I have to be in the mood to do!

Blue Sweater and Beanie Hat

I finally finished the sleeves and sewing the seams etc. BUT I forgot to add buttons! I just noticed this as I uploaded the picture! Anyway.....I somewhat designed this sweater and hat myself, it's another top down, which are my favorite to knit! I used Patons Canadiana a worsted weight. Perfect for a little boy don't you think?

Beribboned Sweater

This one is from the book Kids, Kids, Kids, see it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0964639173/sr=8-1/qid=1156438923/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-5763476-2315137?ie=UTF8

I used Bernat Berella 4, color "Spring Meadow" I love the colors in that yarn!

another dishtowel!

My friend and weight recorder at our local TOPS ( Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter #NY, 890 is Shirley and she LOVES these dishtowels! She also LOVES bears so I quickly knit this up for her last night along with a white cotton butterfly dishcloth. She tells me she likes the white ones best so she can bleach them, good idea! I will get these wrapped up along with a nice bottle of hand soap, she will be so surprised!

Cream Color baby sweater and bonnet

This was in the unfinished basket and now it's completed!
This is another of Suzanne's Matinee jacket from the babysweaters yahoo group. I have made several of these and love the pattern. This one is knitted with Bernat Softee Baby in antique white. The bonnet pattern is my own and also found on the babysweaters group files, the link is below in my July 23, 2006 post. I have added a close up photo so you can see the pattern stitch.

Knitted Dish Towel Toppers & cloths

I finished these 2 towels for a friend whose kitchen is all lighthouse/nautical theme and I made the dishcloths from the Leisure Arts book Garden Dishcloths to Knit by Melissa Bergland Burnham. I just wanted something easy and quick to knit and these were perfect! The worst part for me making the towels is the first row of poking the holes along the top and trying to get the stitches even all the way across!

They make great gifts and I should be working on some for christmas! BUT I have other items in the unfinished basket that need to get completed! Stay tuned!

White sweater, beanie & booties all done!

I had extra time this afternoon and finished the white set from my previous post.
I used the beanie baby hat pattern from the book " Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight, page 56 in the book. It's a pattern you can work using 2 needles as I am not comfortable using double pointed needles! I used a bootie pattern from here

also done with 2 needles, I handstitched on the little satin flowers using a good strong quilting thread so they don't fall off after washing and also so they don't pose a hazard to the baby.

I have more things to show you as soon as I get the seams sewed up and buttons on!

I discovered a bag full of WIP and am determined to finish them!

Knitting While Traveling

I recently took a 5 day trip to Greensboro, NC to a Market America convention and I knit along the way sitting in the back seat, I thought it would make me queazy but I felt fine and I got alot done as you can see!
I started another of the same top down pattern from American School of Needlwork book "First Steps in Knitting", designs by Mary Thomas. This one is TLC Lustre by Red Heart another acrylic 4 ply in white, this yarn has been discontinued but I still have some in my stash.
Try this pattern, it's fun to knit!!! I addded buttonholes on this one on rows 2, 16 and 28.
Just a simple knit 2, YO, knit 2 tog.
I plan on adding little satin ribbon rose sewn on along the yoke and maybe on each bootie.
I might try a different hat pattern for this one, wait and see!

Whew, finished another set!

I made another of Mary Thomas' top down pattern, same as the cream one down below, only I eliminated the eyelet rows in the sweater and just knit, also added one buttonhole on the 2nd or 3rd row. I used Red Heart Soft in "sweetpea" on size 5 needles. The whole set only took 1- 1/2 skeins, it's a worsted weight acrylic and SOFT!
